Trying out some new techniques for a new year! If you want to know how to apply gesso to prep your bible pages, preventing bleed through, you’ve come to the right place. If you want to know how to make and apply a homemade masking fluid, see what I used for the word “flourish.” If you want to see some embossing and stamping right on the bible page, this post has that too! Lots of fun techniques all on one page!

I started with prepping the page with three layers of gesso and painting the word flourish with masking fluid. After allowing it to dry, applied a wash of color with watercolors. Then, I stamped and embossed the tree, branch, and pinecone. Write in a few words and stamp the date, and, voila! one page entry done.

Ingredients for Homemade Masking Fluid:

I got my nail polish remover from Dollar Tree, but it is 100% acetone like the one above.

I tried out an EK Powder Tool for the first time today too!

My embossing set and stamps are from Stampin’ Up, from back in the day when my sister was a Stampin’ Up demonstrator.

However, they are similar to these products:

My actual stamp sets are retired and so crazy expensive now:

My heat gun is a Chicago Power Tools 1500 watt heat gun that I have had forever, but it is similar to this one:

I love my new pen:
