This chapter of John, I am going back to my roots. When I first started creating art in my bible, word art bible art journaling with colored pencils was my go-to approach. You don’t have to have special art supplies and expensive tools to get started interacting with God’s word in this way. I started with my pencils and colored pencils that I stole borrowed from my kids’ backpacks.
Comparison is the Enemy
Don’t compare yourself to others who have been doing this longer! Steal (ahem, borrow) some simple art supplies from your kids (or a kid you know) and have fun diving into God’s living and active word! Read a verse or chapter and think it over. Pray about it, and see what God makes stand out to you. Then create something to help you remember: a picture, some stickers, some journaling, word art, highlighting, or whatever pops in your awesome, creative mind!
Realize Who You Are and What You Can Do
The Creator God made you in His image. He is creative, and so are you! You can do this bible art journaling thing. Seriously! You, even if you can’t draw a stick figure that looks like a stick figure – that is exactly where I was when I started! Read more about how to get started here.
