Hope Drives Us to Our Knees - HOPE Challenge Day 2

Hope Drives Us to Our Knees – HOPE Challenge Day 2

“But God will never forget the needy;
the hope of the afflicted will never perish.
Arise, Lord, do not let mortals triumph;
let the nations be judged in your presence.” Psalm 9:18-19

In Day 1, we learned that hope and fear are two sides of the same coin, so what is to keep us from fear. Psalm 9 reminds us of God’s love – His Character. “God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.”

Our hopes are not unfounded, because God will never forget us. In our suffering, our hardship, the love of God is steadfast and unchanging. In our need, we are remembered by the Creator of the universe. The great love of God paired with His infinite and eternal memory provides us with unending hope.

Prayer must be our response: “Arise, Lord…” When there is affliction, we have to call on the Lord with hope-filled hearts and ask Him to arise in our lives. Our situation. Our suffering.

Our hope in the God who remembers drives us to our knees in prayer.

Let God arise in the middle of my mess. HOPE CHallenge Day 2

HOPE Challenge Day 2 Action Step:

Spend some moments in prayer today asking God to intervene in the affliction in your life (or the lives of those you love). Call on God to arise in your family, home, job, city, nation, world…

HOPE Challenge Day 2 Prayer:

Dear God, thank you that you never forget us, even in the middle of our suffering. You are mindful of us. Help us to call on You and listen to Your response. Enable us to hope in the dark times and find peace in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
