SEARCH – Jeremiah 29:13

This summer, my family is going on vacation to the beach. It has been a long time since we have been on a beach vacation, but my husband and I both grew up going to the beach during the summer. The warm sun and surf, sand for sandcastle building, wind for kite-flying – the beach is a place where you can relax and play together those you love.

My Favorite Beach Activity

There are so many wonderful beach activities. One of my favorite things to do at the beach is look for seashells. They make a free souvenir and each one is so unique and beautiful.

Searching for complete shells or specific types of shells can take a long time, but it is totally worth it! The beach we are headed to this summer is known for beautiful shells and I am super excited to find some to bring home.

SEARCH!

The Bible instructs us to search for something too!

“You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

When we search for God with our whole heart, He promises that we will find Him.

He is so close

Sometimes it seems like God is so far away, but this promise from the Bible means we can have Him so close to us. All we have to do is seek after Him. So, how do we search for God?

How to Search for God

In our daily lives, when God feels far from us, we have to jump into action and SEARCH. How do we do that?

1. Read that Bible! God speaks to us through His Word and when we spend time in it, it is like hearing His voice in our lives. When He feels far away, our first inclination is not to read the Bible, but it should be! When we turn to His Word, we feel how close God is because He reveals Himself to us.

2. Pray! Tell God what is going on in your life and ask for help! When we call out His name, we are searching for Him. Don’t forget to spend some time listening to hear His Voice.

3. Get involved with other believers! Connect with people at a local church to seek after God together. Relationships with other believers can challenge us to seek after God wholeheartedly. They can comfort us during suffering, encourage us during hardships, and share in our joy when we are experiencing God’s blessings.

Action Step:

Take a moment right now and tell God the things that have been going on in your life. Your hopes, fears, dreams, problems, and joys. Ask Him to get involved in your daily life. Then listen for a little bit and see if a Bible verse comes to mind or you get a feeling in your Spirit. The Holy Spirit speaks to us in different ways. We just have to listen!

Prayer:

Dear God, I want to search for you everyday! Help me to seek after you wholeheartedly. Reveal yourself to me and help me to hear Your voice. Help me to feel You close to me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
