Indescribable Gift - Decemeber Devotions and Doodles - Day 23

December Devotions and Doodles – Day 23 (December 23)

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 9:8-15

8 And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work. 9 As it is written:

He distributed freely;
he gave to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.

10 Now the one who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will also provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the proof provided by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone. 14 And as they pray on your behalf, they will have deep affection for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

December 23 Devotional: Indescribable Gift

I love filling up stockings for my kids! When I was a child, I loved the sight of all the filled stockings hanging on the fireplace on Christmas morning.

God is the Ultimate Stocking Filler

Our scripture passage today reminds us that God is the ultimate stocking filler. We lay out our lives before Him like stockings on Christmas Eve and He fills them to overflowing with grace and provision and blessings!

Thanks be to God!

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

Though we have tried to describe it this month, God’s gift of Jesus is indescribable. It is the greatest blessing of all history. It is the provision we desperately need everyday of our lives. It is grace incarnate – extended to us though we did not deserve it.

A Grateful Response

In light of this Indescribable Gift, our response has to be overwhelming gratitude. We are almost to Christmas Day, let’s spend the rest of the season focused on our blessings and God’s indescribable gift and then give thanks to God.

December 23 – Action Step:

Today (December 23), be thankful for all God has done and sent in Jesus for us. All the grace. All the provision. All the blessings. Say thank You!

Prayer:

Dear God,  You have given us grace and provision and blessing in the person of Jesus. We are so grateful and our hearts overwhelm with thankfulness. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Drawing Tutorial – December 23: How to draw a Stocking

How to draw a stocking - December Devotions and Doodles - Day 23

  1. Start with a slightly wiggly slanted rectangle with rounded corners.
  2. From the base of the slanted rectangle, a simple stocking shape forms.
  3. Two loops (one inside the other) provides a hanger for the stocking. Super simple!
